At the recent 2024 TUYA Global Developers Summit (Europe), Tuya Smart (NYSE: TUYA, HKEX: 2391), a global cloud developer service provider, announced a collaboration aimed at revolutionizing household energy management with Mazda, a leading French energy-saving brand. This partnership underscores both companies' commitment to setting a new standard for energy efficiency in the French market.
Addressing the Energy Challenge Together
Amidst the ongoing climate change and energy crisis, France has witnessed a surge in electricity prices, with an estimated increase of 10% to 20% in 2024. In response, the French government has rolled out comprehensive energy-saving initiatives targeting residential and public sectors to alleviate the burden on consumers. Mazda, with its century-long history as a French brand, has emerged as a frontrunner in implementing these plans.
Mazda, a pioneering force in embracing France's energy-conservation initiatives, traces its roots back to 1909, initially as a French brand specializing in light bulbs. Since the 1950s, the company has undergone a strategic shift, dedicating itself to the energy sector and pioneering as France's premier battery brand. Over time, Mazda evolved into a renowned energy-saving brand, continuously pushing boundaries. By 2022, Mazda had broadened its horizons, introducing an expanded range of ground source heat pumps, firmly rooted in its commitment to performance and efficiency – two cornerstone values that guide its mission to facilitate a global shift towards energy-efficient products via innovative solutions. In alignment with French policies and with a keen eye on empowering French households with sustainable energy-saving practices, Mazda remains relentlessly committed to exploring the breadth of the energy industry.
In this endeavor, Mazda's gaze was captivated by Tuya's formidable blend of energy-saving prowess and intelligent capabilities. Moreover, Tuya's profound comprehension of the French market landscape and its ability to tailor solutions that align seamlessly with Mazda's aspirations, further solidified the choice to forge a partnership. Thus, Mazda and Tuya united, embarking on a collaborative journey to redefine energy efficiency and intelligence in France.
Tuya's Energy-efficient Solutions for Mazda
Recognizing Tuya's prowess in energy-saving and smart home technologies, Mazda chose to collaborate with the company to develop a comprehensive home energy management solution. At the hardware level, Tuya has equipped Mazda with a suite of smart devices, including temperature control valves, thermostats, and gateways, catering to the diverse energy-saving needs of French households.
At the software level, Tuya has developed a Home Energy Management App tailored for Mazda. This App enables household users to not only gain real-time insights into their home's energy consumption but also intelligently schedule household appliances through voice commands and other intuitive operations. With this single app as the hub, users can effortlessly manage all Mazda products, significantly facilitating daily energy-saving efforts within their homes.
Meanwhile, the Home Energy Management System developed by Tuya for Mazda seamlessly integrates EcoWatt and écogaz signals, providing users with data on electricity and gas consumption as well as critical warning information. This enables users to promptly respond to unexpected electrical situations at home. This system can help French households save at least 25% to 30% of their electricity consumption.
Looking ahead, both parties plan to integrate AI algorithms into the current Home Energy Management System. When users inquire about specific energy consumption of household devices, leveraging AI language models, the system will summarize the devices' power consumption proportions and trends, presenting them to users in the form of charts. Furthermore, it will comprehensively consider users' energy consumption habits, local time-of-use electricity prices, and other factors to provide households with efficient and easy-to-implement energy-saving strategies, while ensuring comfort.
"Tuya's expertise in energy and smart home technologies is a valuable asset for Mazda as we strive to become a global leader in energy-saving solutions," said Maurice Hallioua, CEO of Mazda. "Together, we will create highly differentiated smart energy-saving products, fostering a greener, low-carbon living environment for our customers worldwide."
Tina Yu, General Manager of Eurasia of Tuya Smart, echoed this sentiment, stating, "Mazda's strong presence in the French market, coupled with our technological prowess, presents a unique opportunity for both companies. This partnership will not only enhance our visibility in the French market but also drive smart technology innovation in Mazda's products, ultimately benefiting consumers and advancing sustainable development globally."
The successful collaboration marks a significant milestone in the French energy market, introducing a new era of smart, energy-efficient living. As the partnership deepens, both companies are poised to lead the way towards a more sustainable future.
